Vision

Joost van Belois

Joost van Belois is a paralegal at bureau Brandeis. He specialises in European and competition law.

Joost obtained the master’s degree in European Law at Leiden University, where he also followed the Honours College Law programme. He wrote his thesis on the principle of effective judicial protection and individual access to the European Courts.

In 2023, he participated in the prestigious European Law Moot Court Competition, in which he and his team reached the (regional) finals.

Joost has also gained experience in competition law during two internships in the legal profession.

Vision

Bram van Eijk

Bram van Eijk is a paralegal at Brandeis firm specializing in information law and fundamental rights.

Bram obtained his master’s degree in constitutional and administrative law from Leiden University in 2022 cum laude. During this master he focused particularly on the interfaces between digitization, data and government. From this interest, he continued his legal career with a master’s degree in information law at the Institute for Information Law (IViR), which he completed in 2023. He wrote his master’s thesis on transparency in the use of personal data in government decisions.

During his studies, Bram completed several internships at the district court and at law firms. He also worked as a court lawyer at the Amsterdam District Court, where he assisted in preparing hearings and writing judgments.

Vision

Coen Vermeij

Coen Vermeij is a lawyer at bureau Brandeis. He specialises in competition law and European law.

Coen obtained the master’s degree in European Law at Utrecht University cum laude (with distinction). During this master, he studied European competition law and economic law. He wrote his thesis on case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights on trade union rights. During his master’s, he completed an internship in the legal profession. He also gained experience in state aid law at an international consultancy firm.

Vision

Nikki Nilwik

Nikki is a paralegal at Brandeis. She specializes in international climate change and human rights law and is passionate about the climate justice movement.

Nikki earned a master’s degree in international environmental law from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and a master’s degree in public international law from Utrecht University.

During her master’s at Edinburgh, Nikki was part of the Edinburgh International Justice Initiave. This is a student-run initiative that aims to strengthen institutions working for justice for victims of international crimes and the international justice system, by providing pro bono legal research. During this time, Nikki focused primarily on corporate due diligence and human rights violations.
