Lucas de Vet

Attorney Lawyer

Lucas de Vet is an associate at Brandeis. He specialises in administrative law enforcement and complex regulatory issues within regulated markets. His practice covers, amongst other things, energy, telecommunications, media, gambling, platform regulation, cybersecurity and the enforcement procedures associated with these areas.

Lucas enjoys working in markets that are strictly regulated by the government. One of the sectors in which he has been particularly active in recent years is the electricity market. In this sector, he has advised numerous companies dealing with the consequences of grid congestion, including capacity constraints and connection issues. On behalf of various companies, he has submitted requests for dispute resolution to the regulator ACM in conflicts with system operators. In addition, Lucas has submitted several written submissions in response to regulatory changes to the electricity market proposed by the ACM. For example, he drafted a written submission on behalf of the national blood supply organisation, which resulted in system operators being obliged to give it priority in the allocation of (scarce) transmission capacity.

Lucas obtained a Master’s degree in Constitutional and Administrative Law from Utrecht University and subsequently completed a Master’s degree in European Law at Leiden University, graduating cum laude. During his studies, he spent a semester at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome, where he further specialised in European and international law. He also took part in various moot court competitions. Before joining Brandeis, Lucas worked at AKD in Amsterdam and, for a period, in Brussels, where he specialised in European law.
