Bente van Kan

Attorney

Bente van Kan is a junior associate at bureau Brandeis. She focuses on the regulation of digital services, including services in the fields of telecommunications, media, gambling, platform regulation and cybersecurity. Bente represents companies in various administrative law proceedings, including enforcement proceedings before supervisory authorities (such as the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets and the Netherlands Gambling Authority), and advises and litigates on matters such as scarce licences, the Open Government Act (Wet open overheid) and the rules for advertising and marketing.

Bente completed the Master’s degree in Information Law at the University of Amsterdam in 2023. During her studies, she focused in particular on intellectual property law and the liability of online intermediaries. She wrote her master’s thesis on sustainability in trademark law from the perspective of ‘Upcycling’.

During her studies, Bente also gained work experience at various legal firms, both within the legal profession and the notarial practice.

Bente is a member of the Advertising Law Association.
