bureau Brandeis strengthens partner team with the appointment of Elise Troll

bureau Brandeis further expands its partner team with the appointment of Elise Troll, who will join the firm as partner as of 2 February. With this appointment, bureau Brandeis takes another step in the continued development of its high-end litigation practice.

Elise Troll’s arrival is consistent with bureau Brandeis’ strategy of focusing on complex proceedings in which civil and criminal law intersect, as well as matters involving regulatory supervision and administrative enforcement.

Strengthening of Privacy, Technology and AI

Elise Troll joins bureau Brandeis as a partner and will lead the firm’s privacy practice. She is an experienced lawyer with a clear focus on data protection and privacy law.

A significant part of her practice consists of advising on, litigating and handling enforcement proceedings before the Dutch Data Protection Authority including matters relating to the processing of personal data in sensitive and highly regulated environments.

Elise advises on and litigates GDPR-related issues such as international data transfers and data subjects’ rights. She is also involved in major contract negotiations and the preparation of data protection impact assessments. She acts for both national and international clients and moves seamlessly between advisory work, litigation and strategic positioning. Most recently, she represented a party in an enforcement proceeding before the Dutch Data Protection Authority and successfully achieved closure of the matter without the imposition of a fine.

Elise is widely regarded as a rising talent in the field of privacy law. Legal 500 (2024) notes: “Elise Troll is definitely on the rise. She is super smart, always available, very practical, comes with creative and out of the box solutions and is fun to work with. She is strong on both content and relationship.”

At bureau Brandeis, Elise will further develop her practice with a clear focus on privacy law as well as regulation in the field of artificial intelligence. She will also play an active role in collective actions and other matters with broader societal impact. With her appointment, bureau Brandeis further strengthens its profile as a firm in which privacy law is firmly embedded in litigation and enforcement practice.
